Benannt zu Ehren des Zoologen und Anthropologen Adolf Bernhard Meyer (1840-1911), der eine Sammlung von Fischen aus Manado, Sulawesi, Indonesien, an das Britische Museum schickte, darunter auch ein Exemplar dieser Art. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)

Westlicher Pazifik: so weit bekannt geworden, von Japan, dem Südchinesischen Meer, Sulawesi, Bali, Neuguinea und Samoa.
IUCN Status
Status: Stand 15.05.2017: LC Least Concern (nicht gefährdet)
Grund für die Gefährdungseinstufung: Es scheint keine erhebliche Bedrohung für diese Art zu geben.
