Typusfundort: Río Mandolo, unter der Brücke der Ruta Provincial 344, in der Nähe von Monteros City, Río Salí Becken, Monteros, Tucumán, Argentinien.
Etymologie
Puka ist ein Quichua-Wort für Rot, bezieht sich auf intensiv rote Anal- und Schwanzflossen. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Die Flüsse Mandolo und Salí in Tucumán, nordwestliches Argentinien.
