Holotypus: ANSP 21598.
Paratypen: ANSP 21599-601 (3), 21602 (1, c&s), 21627-28 (2).
Typusfundort: Rio Grande do Sul, Brasilien.
Etymologie
Benannt zu Ehren von Carl H. Eigenmann (1863-1927) und seiner Frau Rosa Smith Eigenmann (1858-1947), Universität von Indiana, für ihre Arbeit an den Fischen Südamerikas. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Untere Paraná, Uruguay und Laguna dos Patos Einzug: Argentinien, Brasilien, Bolivien, Paraguay und Uruguay.
