Typusfundort: 0°34.836' - 35.329'N, 176°56.432' - 49.956'W (Karte), Indo-Pazifik.
Etymologie
Benannt zu Ehren des amerikanischen Geschäftsmanns und Philanthropen Theodore (Ted) Waitt (geb. 1963), Gründer der Waitt Family Foundation und des Waitt Institute, von denen letzteres die Expedition des Forschungsschiffs Seward Johnson in den äquatorialen Westpazifik sponserte und leitete, während der diese Art gesammelt wurde. Verbreitung
West- und Zentralpazifik, nordwestliches Korallenmeer und Indischer Ozean (Golf von Aden).
