Etymologie
Nasutus (= großnasig), bezieht sich auf "spitze und kantige Schnauze". (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Malaya (Malaysia), Sumatra (Indonesien), Borneo.
IUCN Status
Status: Stand 27.06.2023:LC Least Concern (nicht gefährdet)
Gefahren für diese Art: Im Verbreitungsgebiet werden Wälder abgeholzt und die Landwirtschaft ausgeweitet, was sich auch auf die aquatische Umwelt auswirken dürfte. Die Auswirkungen dieser Bedrohungen auf den Populationsstatus dieser Art wurden jedoch nicht bewertet. Außerdem sind im Einzugsgebiet des Rajang-Flusses eine Reihe großer Wasserkraftwerke geplant, und die Auswirkungen dieser geplanten Dämme auf die Population von P. nasutus dort müssen ebenfalls bewertet werden.
