Typen
Syntypen: ?RMNH D889-890 (2, ausgestopft).
Typusfundort: Bucht von Nagasaki, Japan.
Etymologie
Punctatissimus (= sehr gefleckt), bezieht sich auf kleine runde oder längliche Flecken, etwas dunkler als die Hintergrundfarbe, in der Mitte jeder Schuppe. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Westlicher Nord-Pazifik.
