Typusfundort: KwaZulu-Natal coast, South Africa, southwestern Indian Ocean, depth 183-190 fathoms.
Etymologie
Benannt nach Max Wilhelm Carl Weber (1852-1937), der am besten für seine Arbeit über die Fische und Säugetiere der Siboga Expedition bekannt ist. Er wurde in Deutschland ausgebildet, später ein niederländischer Staatsbürger und einer der einflussreichsten niederländischen Zoologen seiner Zeit.
