Typusfundort: Hawaiian Islands, Mauno Kea Ledge, 19°54'N, 154°57.7'W, (Karte), aus 366 m (1200 ft) Tiefe, gesammelt mit der Saugvorrichtung des U-Boots "Makalii".
Etymologie
Das Art-Epitheton ist eine Kombination von Hawaii, der Typuslokalität, in der sie vermutlich endemisch ist, und dem lateinischen Suffix ensis (Bedeutung: gehört zu).
