Etymologie
Benannt nach Carl Benjamin Hermann von Rosenberg (1817-1888), einem deutschen Geographen und Zoologen, der in Niederländisch-Ostindien arbeitete und vielleicht am besten durch sein Buch (mit autobiographischem Vorwort) "Der Malayische Archipel" (1878) bekannt ist.
Verbreitung
Östlicher Indischer Ozean, westlicher Pazifik: Südostküste von Indien, Thailand und Myanmar östlich bis Indonesien (Nias, Komodo- und Nikobaren-Inseln und Raja Ampat), nördlich bis Vietnam, in der Regel in Küstengewässern mit schlammigem Sand oder weichem Boden in 1 bis 26 m Tiefe.
