Holotypus: USNM 29671 [= 30864].
Paratypus: USNM 30712 (1).
Typusfundort: Snapper banks vor Pensacola, Florida, U.S.A. (als Darminhalt).
Etymologie
.
Verbreitung
South Carolina, Golf von Mexiko, Große Antillen und nördliches Südamerika bis Brasilien in ca. 15–90 m Tiefe. In der brasilianischen Provinz von der Nordküste bis zum Bundesstaat Espírito Santo bekannt, jedoch nicht auf ozeanischen Inseln. Vorkommen in Tiefen von 10–91 Metern, auf Schutt- und Sandböden in der Nähe von Korallenriffen und felsigen Gebieten. Wurde in Höhlen oder auf dem Boden liegend beobachtet.
