Etymologie
Benannt zu Ehren von Livingston Stone, dem Leiter der ersten US-amerikanischen Fischbrutanstalt (The Baird Hatchery, Shasta County, Kalifornien), der in oder in der Nähe der Brutanstalt Typusexemplare sammelte; Jordan sagte später (1896), dass der Name Stone für seine "wertvollen Dienste bei der Vermehrung von Lachs und Forelle" ehrt.
