Etymologie

Bathys (= tief); bios (= Leben), bezieht sich auf sein Vorkommen im Kaspischen Meer, in einer Tiefe von bis zu 230,5 m. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)

Eurasien: Einzugsgebiet des Kaspischen Meeres; eingeführt im Aralsee.
