Typusfundort: Lagune am rechten Rand der Straße BR-364, 36 km östlich von Cuiabá, Bundesstaat Mato Grosso, Brasilien.
Etymologie
Aus dem Lateinischen parvus, kurz, klein, und pinnis, Flosse, sich auf die verkürzte Länge der Afterflosse beziehend.
