Benannt zu Ehren von Phillip C. Heemstra (1941-2019), J.L.B. Smith Institute of Ichthyology (Grahamstown, Südafrika), für seine Beiträge zum Studium der Meeresfische, der als erster auf diese Art aufmerksam machte (1986). (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
