Etymologie
Obsoletus (= abgenutzt oder verfallen), vermutlich in Bezug auf einen schwachen gelb-violetten Streifen am Körper (in zeitgenössischen Berichten als orange-gelb beschrieben). (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Red Sea, Indo-West Pacific: East Africa east to Wake Atoll, Marshall Islands and Tuamotu Archipelago, north to Ryukyu Islands, south to Western Australia, New Caledonia and Tonga.
