Etymologie
Patronym nicht identifiziert, aber wahrscheinlich zu Ehren des deutsch-russischen Zoologen Karl Federovich Kessler (1815-1881), der Cottus spinulosus im Jahr 1872 beschrieb. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
