Etymologie
Benannt nach den Nambiquara, einem indigenen Volk im oberen Einzugsgebiet des Rio Tapajós, Mato Grosso, Brasilien, in der Nähe der Typuslokalität. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
