Etymologie
Benannt nach Bakunawa, einer schlangenartigen oder drachenartigen Figur in der visayanischen Mythologie, die für die Verursachung einer Sonnenfinsternis verantwortlich sein soll, indem sie den Mond verschlingt.
Verbreitung
Indo-West-Pazifik, insbesondere zwischen den Philippinen und Westaustralien.
