Etymologie
Benannt zu Ehren von Keinosuke Otaki (gest. 1911), Professor für Englisch an der Imperial Military Academy of Tokyo und ehemaliger Zoologiestudent an der Stanford University (wo Jordan Präsident war), der die Autoren auf ihren Reisen durch Nordjapan begleitete und zu dem sie für viele Gefälligkeiten zu Dank verpflichtet waren (z.
