Syntypen: BMNH 1888.11.24.1 [ex ZIN] (1); ZIN 8055-57 (1, 1, 2).
Typusfundort: Oberer Amu-Darya River (Land unsicher), oberes Syr-Darya-Flussbecken (Ugam River, Taschkent), Usbekistan.

Etymologie

Benannt zu Ehren des russischen Entomologen Vasili Fedorovich Oschanin, der einen Teil der Typusexemplare sammelte und Aufzeichnungen über ihr Verhalten im Aquarium machte (sie sprang zweimal heraus). (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)

Verbreitung

Zuflüsse des Syr Darya, und möglicherweise des Amu Darya Rivers.
