Typusfundort: Brasilien, Bundesstaat Rio Grande do Sul, am Arroio Grande, neben der Straße BR-116, etwa 32°15’S, 53°05’W.
Etymologie
Benannt zu Ehren des Ornithologen Giovani Nachtigall Mauricio, in Anerkennung seiner wertvollen Leistungen, annuelle Fische von Rio Grande do Sul zu sammeln.
Verbreitung
Flusssysteme im inneren Rand der Laguna Mirim, Laguna dos Patos-System, Bundesstaat Rio Grande do Sul, Südbrasilien.
