Typusfundort: Temporäre Lagune, etwa 4,5 Kilometer nördlich von Quinta, Bundesstaat Rio Grande do Sul, Brasilien.
Etymologie
Benannt nach den Minuane, einem indigenen Stamm, der früher im südlichen Rio Grande do Sul in Brasilien lebte, wo dieser Killifisch vorkommt. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
