Etymologie
Labiatus (= belippt), bezieht sich auf mehrlagige Lippen, "gespiegelt und breiten sich kontinuierlich um das Maul aus, um einen breiten flachen Sauger zu bilden". (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Indien, wird aus dem Brahmaputra in Tibet und vom oberen Salween-Becken berichtet und vom Irrawaddy.

Status: Stand 1.05.2019:LC Least Concern (nicht gefährdet)
Gefahren für diese Art: Die Bedrohungen für diese Art sind nicht bekannt, da es wenig Informationen zu ihrer Biologie gibt und daher die Auswirkungen potenzieller Bedrohungen (insbesondere anthropogener Natur) unbekannt sind. Die aktuellen Bedrohungen für die aquatische Biodiversität in ihrem bekannten Verbreitungsgebiet sind ebenfalls nicht ausreichend bekannt.
