Typusfundort: Hon Rua (Insel Rua), 12.287°N, 109.245°E (Karte), Bucht von Nha Trang, Vietnam, 0-6 m Tiefe.
Etymologie
Benannt zu Ehren von Richard Winterbottom (geb. 1944), Royal Ontario Museum, der diese Art erstmals anhand von Exemplaren, die er in Vietnam gesammelt hatte, als neu erkannte. Er unterhält einen Arbeitsschlüssel zu Arten der Gattung und gibt wertvolle Ratschläge zur Grundelsystematik. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
