Etymologie
Eigenmannia, -ia (= gehört zu): Carl H. Eigenmann (1863-1927), für seine "hervorragende Arbeit" an den Süßwasserfischen Südamerikas. [Ersatzname für Cryptops Eigenmann, 1894, bereits früher verwendet durch Cryptops Leach, 1814 in Myriopoda, Cryptops Schoenherr, 1823 und Cryptops Solier, 1851 in Coleoptera.
