Typusfundort: Melado River, Andean region of Linares, Maule Basin, Región del Maule, 35°43'10"S, 71°04'09"W (Karte).
Etymologie
Der Artname incognitus bezieht sich auf die Verwirrung, dass das Erkennen der Art durch die Annahme verdeckt war, dass Diplomystes chilensis auch südlich des Maipo-Beckens vorkommen würde.
Verbreitung
Im Rapel, Mataquito, Maule, und Itata Becken.
