Typusfundort: Nördliche Shan-Staaten, oberes Myanmar [exakter Fundort nicht bekannt, war aber wahrscheinlich in der Nähe von Lashio im oberen Einzugsgebiet des Irrawaddy].
Etymologie
Benannt zu Ehren des Geologen J. Coggin Brown (1884-1962), der die Typusexemplare sammelte. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)

Myanmar: nördliche Shan-Staaten.

Status: Stand 17.2.2022:VU Vulnerable (gefährdet)
Gefahren für diese Art: Da die Art für den Aquarienfischhandel genutzt wird, könnte sie von Überfischung bedroht sein [ein unwahrscheinliches Szenario, das noch von keiner Süßwasserfischart belegt wurde].
