Typusfundort: Mombasa Fischmarkt, Kenia, westlicher Indischer Ozean.
Etymologie
Benannt zu Ehren von Ernest A. Lachner (1916-1996), Kurator für Fische am U.S. National Museum, der die Revision der Gattung durch Menon initiierte und ihn "ständig anleitete und ermutigte".
Verbreitung
Rotes Meer; westlicher Indischer Ozean: Ostafrika, Sokotra (Jemen), Seychellen, Madagaskar, und westliche Maskarenen östlich bis Pakistan, Sri Lanka und Nikobaren-Inseln (Indien). Gefunden auf flachen Sandböden, in 0-20 m Tiefe.

Status: Stand 7.3.2024:LC Least Concern (nicht gefährdet)
