Etymologie
Bole (= Pfeil); soma (= Körper), aber hier mit Bezug auf seine "bemerkenswerte Ähnlichkeit" mit dem nordamerikanischen Barsch Etheostoma (Boleosoma) olmstedi. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Westatlantik: südliches New Jersey (USA) und Bermuda südlich bis Südbrasilien, einschließlich Golf von Mexiko und Karibisches Meer.
IUCN Status
Status: Stand 9.7.2022:LC Least Concern (nicht gefährdet)
Gefahren für diese Art: Ctenogobius boleosoma ist eine Flachwasserart, die durch Küstenentwicklung und Verschmutzung beeinträchtigt werden kann. Dies scheint jedoch keine größere Bedrohung darzustellen.
