Typusfundort: Monospitovo-Sumpf und Fluss Strumica, Jugoslawien.
Etymologie
Benannt nach der Typuslokalität, dem Fluss Strumica.
Verbreitung
Cobitis strumicae ist in der europäischen Ägäis und im südlichen Schwarzmeer-Becken verbreitet, vom Struma-Einzug bis zum Gebiet von Varna (Griechenland, Bulgarien und Türkei), den Seen Volvi und Koronia (Griechenland) und dem Donau-Einzug in Bulgarien. Cobitis aus dem Bach Koca auf der Biga-Halbinsel (nördlichstes ägäisches Becken in der Türkei) werden als diese Art identifiziert.
