Etymologie
Vom altgriechischen kithára (= Harfe oder Laute), bezeiht sich auf die Schuppenreihen von Citharinus citharus, die den Saiten einer Harfe ähneln sollen. Das Suffix ist vom lateinischen forma (= Form, Gestalt oder Erscheinung).
