Verbreitung
Westpazifik: Andamanensee östlich bis Neukaledonien und nordwestliches Australien nördlich bis Japan. Bei Literaturaufzeichnungen unter diesem Artnamen aus dem Roten Meer und um Madagaskar handelt es sich um Chelidoperca occipitalis.
