Etymologie
Botuvera ist eine Anspielung auf das Vorkommen der Art in der Gemeinde Botuverá, Santa Catarina, Südbrasilien. Dieser Name leitet sich vom Tupi-Guarani ab und bedeutet möglicherweise brillanter Berg.
Verbreitung
Brasilien: Rio Itajaí-Mirim-Becken, kommt dort in schnell fließenden Bächen in geringer Höhe (ca. 160–170 m ü.M.) vor.
