Etymologie nicht erklärt; vielleicht: -ia (= gehört zu): Bhavani, Name des Gemeindegebiets und des Flusses in Tamil Nadu, Indien, an oder in der Nähe wo Bhavania australis vorkommt. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
