Holotypus: MHNM 2542.
Typusfundort: Sumpfgebiet an der Ruta 21, etwa 2 km nordwestlich des Arroyo de las Viboras, Bezirk Colonia, Uruguay.
Etymologie
aschfarben, bezogen auf dunkelgraue Seiten von männlichen Tieren (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project).
Verbreitung
Südamerika: La Plata Becken in Uruguay.
IUCN Status
Status: Stand 07.02.2021: CR Critically Endangered (vom Aussterben bedroht)
Grund für die Gefährdungseinstufung: Die bekannte Hauptbedrohung für diese Art ist die Verschlechterung des Lebensraums durch die Entwicklung der örtlichen Industrie (z. B. Fleischverarbeitungsanlagen, Golffeld) und der Fundort in einem Gebiet mit hohem städtischem Druck. Der Fundort ist ein Ort für touristische Entwicklungen, die in naher Zukunft zu Umweltveränderungen führen können. Die nicht regulierte Sammlung durch Aquarianer kann auch eine potenzielle Bedrohung für die verbleibende Population darstellen.
