Etymologie
Aulopus ist ein altgriechisches Wort für einen unbekannten Fisch; vielleicht abgeleitet von aulos (= Pfeife oder Flöte), in Bezug auf den schlanken, zylindrischen Körper von Aulopus filamentosus. Das Suffix stammt vom lateinischen forma (= Form, Gestalt oder Aussehen).
