Etymologie
Zu Ehren von John F. Bransford (1846-1911), Hilfs-Stabsarzt der US Navy, sammelte die Typusexemplare und war Co-Autor von Gills Arbeit über die Fische des Nicaraguasees. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Endemisch im Nicaraguasee und seinen Zuflüssen, Nicaragua und Costa Rica.
