Etymologie
Von -oides (= mit dem Aussehen von:) in Bezug auf die Ähnlichkeit mit Ariosoma anago, von der Bleeker ursprünglich dachte, dass es diese Spezies sein könnte. (Übersetzt aus: The eTYFish Project)

Westpazifik: Indonesien und Philippinen bis nach Japan.
