Etymologie
Argos (= hell), bezieht sich auf hellblaue Markierungen an Flanken und Flossen von Männchen; lebias (= griechischer Name für eine Art kleinen Fisch, der zuerst von Cuvier (1816) auf Killifische („Les Lebias“) angewendet wurde und jetzt eine gebräuchliche Wurzelnamenbildung in der Ordnung ist.
