Typen
Holotypus: MNHN 1979-286.
Typusfundort: Fundort «H», in der Nähe des Tafelbergs gelegen, Zone mit hohen Hügeln von bis zu 1000 m Höhenlage 120 km süd-süd-westlich von Paramaribo, Surinam.
Etymologie
Der wissenschaftliche Name amphoreus ist von amphora abgeleitet, die Amphore, ein Hinweis auf die allgemeine sowie feine Morphologie (Gesichtsneuromasten) und die Färbung des Fisches.
Verbreitung
Hochland von Surinam.
