Typusfundort und -schicht: 't Rooth-Steinbruch (früher Nekami; Aufschluss 62A-7, 182.750, 316.300 (Karte), in der Nähe von Bemelen, Südlimburg; unterer oder mittlerer Teil der Maastricht-Formation.
Etymologie
Von grandis (= groß); Anspielung auf die relativ große Körpergröße.
Verbreitung
Kreidezeit: Holland.
