Etymologie

Tragula (= Speer oder Wurfspeer), in Anspielung auf "Sea arrow" (Anspielung nicht ersichtlich), den volkstümlichen Namen, den der Naturforscher John Reeves (1774-1856), der dem Britischen Museum ein Exemplar vorstellte, gab. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)

Vom östlichen Indischer Ozean bis Westpazifik: von den Andamanen nach Australien sowie nach Japan und Neukaledonien.
