Etymologie
Striga, Streifen oder Streifen; bundus, Suffix für Fülle oder Fülle, Anspielung nicht erklärt, vermutlich auf eine Reihe von braunen Flecken auf jeder Schuppenreihe bezogen, eins zu einer Skala, „Längslinien bildend“ (per Myers, 1927) (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project).

Rio Tocantins-Einzugsgebiet, Amazonas-Becken, Brasilien.
