Typusfundort: Nanla River, ein Zufluss des Lancangjiang River, in der Nähe der Stadt Mengla, 21°29'N, 101°34'E (Karte), Mengla County, Yunnan, China.
Etymologie
Lateralis (= Seite); vittatus (= gestreift), bezogen auf schwärzlichen Längsstreifen seitlich am Körper. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)

Gefahren für diese Art: Diese Art ist durch Überfischung bedroht, wo Dynamit und illegale Haken verwendet werden. Anthropogene Veränderungen der Flussmorphologie wirken sich auf diese Art aus, indem sie den Wasserfluss reduzieren oder unterbrechen. Abholzung, Entwaldung und Landwirtschaft finden im gesamten Verbreitungsgebiet der Art statt, entsprechend sind Auswirkungen auf die aquatische Umwelt zu erwarten, und jede Form von Vegetationsentfernung aus ihrem Lebensraum wirkt sich negativ auf diese Art aus.
