Etymologie
Sagax (= weise, spitz oder scharf), Anspielung nicht offensichtlich, möglicherweise bezogen auf einen größeren, längeren Kopf im Vergleich zu Sardina pilchardus. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
