Indo-West Pazifik: Malediven östlich bis zu den Phönix-Inseln und Samoa, nördlich bis zu den Ryukyu-Inseln, südlich bis nach Nordaustralien, Nord-Neuseeland und den Kermadec-Inseln.

Status: Stand 26.04.2019:LC Least Concern (nicht gefährdet)
Gefahren für diese Art: Wird kommerziell als Aquarienfisch gefangen.
