Etymologie
Oxy (= scharf); cephalus (= Kopf), Anspielung nicht erklärt, bezieht sich vielleicht auf fleischige Schnauze, die über Prämaxillare hinausragt. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Asien: Flüsse des pazifischen Beckens vom Amur nach Süden bis zum Einzug des Jangtse; in Korea im Becken des Gelben Meeres; Südjapan (Honshu, Kyushu, Shikoku); Im Amur, Mittellauf des Amur- und Bureya-Flusssystems flussabwärts zum Unterlauf, Ussuri-Fluss, jedoch nicht im Becken des Khanka-Sees.
