Etymologie

-oides (= mit der Form von:) Pristipoma Cuvier, 1829 (= Pomadasys, Haemulidae, damals betrachtet als zur selben Familie gehörend), die sich jedoch durch das Fehlen von Unterkieferporen und einer stark geschuppten Schwanzflosse unterscheidet. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
