Typusfundort: Vor der Elicapeni Bank, Lakkadivensee, 11°12'47"N, 74°25'30"E (Karte), Investigator Station 104, Tiefe 1000 Faden.
Etymologie
Trichos (= Haare oder Strahl); urus (= Schwanz), bezieht sich auf „langen wimpernartigen“ Schwanz. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Westpazifik: weit verbreitet, wurde aus Südjapan, den östlichen Philippinen und vor Neukaledonien identifiziert. Kommt in mäßiger Tiefe zwischen 1037 und 1850 m vor und scheint nahe am Schelfbruch zu bleiben, also nicht weiter als 100 km entfernt.
