Etymologie
Pontos (= historischer griechischer Name für das südliche Schwarze Meer); -cola (= Bewohner oder Einwohner), vermutlich in Bezug auf die Schwarzmeerverbreitung von Ponticola ratan und vielleicht anderen Verwandten. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
